Shutter Options

Plantation Shutter Options:
We use the highest quality grade of basswood for our shutters. It is a natural solid wood (no finger joint pieces, no MDF or particle wood). Years of use and testing have proven that this type of wood has the best characteristics for manufacturing shutters.

Our shutters are custom made to your specifications. Choose your style from our many options:

Color/Finish

Creative Shutters offers custom color matching. Since we are a custom shutter manufacturer we custom match your paint color or stain sample that you supply. We will make a stain sample for your approval. For those clients unsure of paint color or stain choice we have a wide variety of color samples for you to choose from.

Stained Shutters:
Creative Shutters offers stained basswood shutters. We offer a palette of colors or we can custom match the stain color of shutters to that of a sample of stained wood supplied by our clients.

One Panel or Two

Windows ranging in width from 2 feet to nearly 3 feet can be accommodated
with either one or two panels shutters.

Single Panel:
A single panel can offer a clean, open look that allows maximum light to enter.
For windows wider than 36 inches, Creative Shutters recommends 3.5” louvers.

Two panels: Covering windows with two panels offer a more traditional look. Because each panels swing outward to the left and right, two panels are easier to open. Additionally, with two narrow panels, louvers lay against one another tightly when the louvers are closed, blocking the maximum amount of light recommends 3.5” louvers.

Hardware
Creative Shutters offers a wide range of hinge colors to choose from for your shutters.
Hinges are typically matched to either the color the shutters are painted or to the door knobs or other hardware throughout your house.

Plantation Shutter Options:
Our shutters are custom made to your specifications. Choose your style from our many options:
Doors
Any door can be covered with plantation shutters. Even doors with lever type handles that extend into the glass area can be done. No matter how tight, big, or little you think your door is, we can have plantation shutters custom made to fit. A shutter panel is built into a four-sided frame and secured to the door.

Divider Rails

Divider rails partition shutter panels into sections that can be opened and closed independently.

A lower section may be closed to provide privacy while and upper section may remain open to let light in.

Tilt Rods
Creative Shutters offers custom color matching. Though shutters can be painted any color, we usually match the shutter's color to that of the trim in your home. To do this, we ask that you provide us with a sample of the paint color.

Creative Shutters also offers a spilt tilt rod option: Panels are divided into two sections without a divider rail separating the upper and lower section.

Louver Size
Louvers are the horizontal slats in shutter panels. Creative Shutters offers 3 sizes of louvers: 2 1/2, 3 1/2, and 4 1/2 inch.

2.5” louvers:
2.5” louvers offer a slightly more traditional look.

Though they can be used in windows of any size. 2.5” louvers are recommended for older houses that have smaller windows.

3.5” louvers:
3.5” louvers offer a slightly more contemporary look.

Though they can be used in windows of any size, they are best suited to larger windows
4.5” louvers:
4.5” louvers offer a slightly more sunlight in.

Though they can be used in windows of any size, they are best suited for very large windows.
